Course Description:

You were proactive…and implemented strategies to prevent problem behaviors from occurring. However, problem behaviors can still occur even with proactive strategies in place. And they have… What can you do now?

When problem behaviors occur, what is the best way to react to help treat them? This workshop will focus on effective reactive strategies that can be implemented while the problem behavior is occurring. These include: how to gain compliance, crisis intervention, how to communicate with the student, functional based reaction to problem behavior, extinction, response blocking, response redirection, planned ignoring, count and mand, and emotional language during treatment. Participants will learn effective ways to analyze the problem situation while it is occurring, and how to react in a safe and clinical mindset. This workshop will address implementation in classroom, therapy, and home-based settings.
